I realize that in the grand scheme of things, I'm very lucky. Two tornadoes touched down within miles of me, and there was some devastating damage. In comparison, wet carpet really isn't much. But also, whhhhhyyyyyy??? I definitely didn't need this problem added to my very full plate. I soaked up as much as I could and put a fan on it, and I'll have to figure it out tomorrow.
Poem 79/100
You have all of the tools you need to succeed. YOU ARE THE MAGIC. XOXO
Basement leaks can be a real bitch of a problem to solve. As the custodian of a one hundred year old church building, I have some experience with such things. Depending on the rate of seepage, you may be able to mitigate the problem somewhat with a dehumidifier. Other solutions (foundation waterproofing or installing a sump pump) are more hassle & can run into the big bucks. If the problem only shows up rarely in extreme wet weather or if the problem is just condensed humidity, the dehumidifier may be all you need.
(I'm sorry if this note is too mansplainy, but I'm naturally a "How can I fix this?" kinda guy! I am sorry for your water woes.)
I'm thankful you have a solvable, though complicated problem from the storming, and are safe along with your pretty rats. It has definitely been an unsettled and unsettling beginning of May here in the US!
